Louisville, Kentucky / CRWE PRESS RELEASE / April 3, 2026 — The Louisville Thunder, a member team of the National Junior College Prep (NJCP) Football League, are proud to announce the addition of James Quick as the team's new Wide Receivers Coach for the 2026 season.

A Louisville native and former standout wide receiver at University of Louisville, Quick returns home with elite playing experience spanning high school, college, and professional football. His appointment marks a major addition to the Thunder's coaching staff as the program continues to build a player-first development environment for athletes pursuing the next level.
Quick first made his name as a five-star wide receiver at Trinity High School in Louisville playing for Trinity Head Coach Bob Beatty. He was widely regarded as one of the top players in the country coming out of high school setting reception records, leading his team to multiple state championships, earning U.S. Army All-American honors, and named the Pete Dawkins Most Valuable Player of the U.S. Army All-American Game after catching the game-winning touchdown.
During his senior season at Trinity, Quick recorded 85 receptions for 1,413 yards and 16 touchdowns while helping guide the program to its third straight state championship. He finished his high school career as Kentucky's all-time leader in receptions with 280 catches and remains one of the most decorated prep athletes in state history, including becoming the only player to catch a touchdown in four consecutive state finals.
Quick went on to star at the University of Louisville from 2013 to 2016, where he appeared in 45 games and totaled 126 receptions for 2,032 yards and 14 touchdowns. Known for his explosiveness and ability to stretch the field, Quick averaged 16.1 yards per catch during his collegiate career and remained one of the Louisville Cardinals' most productive receivers during that span.
Following college, Quick signed as an undrafted free agent with Washington Commanders (then the Redskins) in 2017, where he saw preseason action and recorded five catches for 54 yards. After being released, he later spent time with Green Bay Packers during practice player activities, continuing his professional development. Quick also extended his career professionally with the Atlanta Legends in the Alliance of American Football, where he appeared in six games, and later signed with the Calgary Stampeders in the CFL.
For Louisville Thunder athletes, Quick's journey from local high school star to Division I standout and professional receiver brings firsthand knowledge of what it takes to succeed at every level of the game. As Wide Receivers Coach, Quick will focus on route discipline, technique, hands, separation, and football IQ, helping young athletes sharpen the details that college coaches evaluate most heavily.
His return to Louisville also carries added significance for local athletes, as he represents a homegrown success story who has walked the same path many of the Thunder's players hope to follow.
With the 2026 NJCP season approaching, the Louisville Thunder continue to strengthen their staff with coaches who bring both high-level experience and a deep commitment to player development.
