Shares of Chesapeake Energy Corporation (Nasdaq: CHK) saw a notable surge of over 5% in after-hours trading, driven by the news of its inclusion as a replacement for Mercury Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: MRCY) in the S&P MidCap 400 index. The change is scheduled to come into effect prior to the opening of trading on Monday, August 21.

In other news, Avnet, Inc. (Nasdaq: AVT), a global distributor of electronic components and solutions, unveiled fourth-quarter fiscal 2023 adjusted earnings of $2.06 per share, surpassing the consensus EPS estimate of $1.65. The company's quarterly sales reached $6.55 billion, slightly exceeding analysts' projected revenue of $6.27 billion.
Looking ahead to the first-quarter of fiscal 2024, Avnet anticipates adjusted EPS to fall within the range of $1.45 to $1.55, accompanied by sales ranging from $6.15 billion to $6.45 billion. This outlook contrasts with the consensus EPS estimate of $1.39 on revenue of $6.03 billion for the period.
