In the coming weeks, Amazon.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) will launch its custom electric delivery vans from Rivian in Europe, starting with Germany. Over 300 electric vans will join the existing fleet of thousands, including more than 1,000 in Germany. Amazon plans to invest over €1 billion to electrify its European transportation network and reduce carbon emissions.
The vans prioritize safety, sustainability, and driver comfort. Amazon's partnership with Rivian Automotive, Inc. (Nasdaq: RIVN) is part of its commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. In Europe, the companies specially designed a shorter and thinner van than its U.S. counterpart, allowing for better maneuverability and fitting into the narrow spaces of Europe's cities.
In the US, Amazon already has 3,000 Rivian vans in operation and aims to have 100,000 globally by 2030.
$RIVN closed at $19.56 (+17.41%), while $AMZN closed at $3,130.22 (-0.11%) on Monday
